I'm Sarah Teague and I'm one of the managers for the Riata Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and I'm located in Tulsa Oklahoma. I've been with the Riata Center since um I think I started in December of 2014. LeadHERship Spears came about out of the vision that Dr. Washington and I had about creating a women's leadership program for the women of Spears.
So essentially what it is, is a year-long program for the women of Spears to get hands-on experience, that complements their classroom work. But they really get to focus on specific leadership skills and traits and they get access to really cool people, faculty, staff, alumni within OSU, but then also industry experts.
But, there is an application process um I believe that we are set to open our applications for the springtime, which won't they won't actually start until the next fall. So those will open I believe on February 1st. Right now it's only open to undergrads, specifically targeting sophomores and juniors because we want them to have enough, you know, enough time in college where they kind of have an idea of what they want to do, but they're not so late in their journey where they already know that they want to be an accountant, or they already know they want to be an entrepreneur or whatever it is. Where we can give them more opportunities to kind of figure that out and make some connections before they graduate.
But there is an application process. They have to answer specific questions. Really what we're looking for is why would they be interested in really learning about themselves and leadership.
