Active aging involves staying engaged in life in a number of ways, including maintaining independence, physical and cognitive fitness and social engagement across the lifespan. The Active Aging for L.I.F.E. public health represents a commitment by members of the OSU College of Human Sciences Alliance on Aging (OSU-AoA) to educating Oklahomans in the areas of Longevity, Independence, Fitness, and Engagement. This framework for action was translated through four sessions on the OSU campus in Spring 2016 which were attended by older adults age 65+ and college-age students, as well as members of the general public. The strength of the Active Aging for L.I.F.E. initiative is the interdisciplinary and intergenerational nature of the program, and the way that participants come to view the aging process and the social and physical environments in which that process takes place.
