Oklahoma State University celebrates former President Burns Hargis and First Cowgirl Ann Hargis during a statue dedication ceremony at the Student Union Plaza.
The statue — a tall bronze representing Burns Hargis — was funded by several generous donors and sculpted by renowned Oklahoma sculptor Mike Larsen. Larsen has been a professional artist for nearly 50 years and has been commissioned to work on multiple mural projects and monumental-sized bronzes. He is known for his very large paintings, and also for one very tiny one — the U.S. postage stamp commemorating the Oklahoma Centennial in 2007.
