As the Class of 1963 Distinguished Lecturer, Lawrence Schook, Ph.D., will present the keynote address at Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine’s Annual Fall Veterinary Conference, “The Oncopig Cancer Model: A platform for transitional, translational and transformative advances in cancer research.”
Schook is the Edward William and Jane Marr Gutsgell Professor in Animal Sciences and Radiology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is a recognized international scholar in comparative genomics and is known for leading the pig genome-sequencing project, which has provided researchers insights into human cancer and other chronic diseases. Schook has served as an advisor to corporations, universities, non-governmental and governmental agencies with respect to medical models, genomics and animal biotechnology.
