Cloth Face Coverings or Masks provide a physical barrier that reduces the transfer of airborne droplets which cause respiratory infections. Each textile or fabric layer has a unique function in providing a barrier – a tightly woven above 300 thread count or non-woven exterior fabric, absorbent interior layer and an appropriate interior filter. Just because a product has High-Efficiency Particulate Air or HEPA on the label does not mean it can be used for its unintended purpose. Household and shop products are composed of chemicals and fibers not intended for direct contact with the human mouth or nose. A face covering does not guarantee protection against the transmission of any disease.
