One of the most widely used herbicides worldwide is glyphosate, the active ingredient in RoundUp. Glyphosate has been a valuable agronomic tool since its discovery and introduction to the agrochemical market in the early 1970s, enhancing yield and farming efficiency across a variety of food and fiber crops. As valuable as glyphosate has been in the agronomy world, concerns about glyphosate’s environmental impacts and cancer risks have gained traction in public perceptions of the chemical. Dr. Scott Senseman was involved in some of the early “environmental fate” research that critics often reference to support their concerns about glyphosate. Join us as VP for Research Kenneth Sewell and Dr. Senseman discuss that early research and discover just how scientific findings can easily be misapplied and result in widespread misconceptions.
