Hello! I'm John Holden. I'm an associate professor in the Spears School of Business. I primarily teach the Legal and Regulatory Environment of business, as students call it "B Law", as well as some sports law classes.
Business law covers a lot of the foundational topics that you'd encounter in law school. I like to explain it to students as though it's the first week of law school in about 15 different classes. So you get a real sort of baseline, understanding of the topics that we cover across the three years of law school all condensed into a really short period of time.
The big focus for us of course being in the business school are on the business topics like contracts, the regulation of businesses, and sort of how to form a business as well as the different types of business structures that you can choose.
So while those classes are required for a lot of our business majors, it's also a great introduction to the law and the way that we teach this class. It's really designed in a way to give students some exposure to what law school might be like. So if you're thinking about law school, I'd highly recommend taking LSB 3213 because it'll give you a good overview so that you can see if that type of class is something that you'd enjoy.
